Gifts are always a nice thought but it’s hard to choose what to actually get someone. How do you say ‘Get Well’ or ‘Congratulations with a gift? What could you possibly buy that gets your sentiments across? Flowers are a great solution to any occasion simply because of their versatility.
Roses and daisies are beautiful flowers but they’ve been given before. When you really want to show someone how special they are or to surprise someone with something different, consider lilies. A lily is a sub-tropical flower that is both simple and elegant. The flower comes in so many wonderful colours so it will be sure to look great in a floral arrangement for anyone. It certainly beats buying a box of chocolates only to find out that they are on a diet or another memento that is lost in translation.
Calla lilies have a soft, trumpet-like flare to them that make them unique and exciting looking. These can be given for celebrating or saying I’m sorry. They are especially beautiful in white and yellow. The solid colour demands attention and everyone in the room will give it to these flowers as they enter.
Tiber lilies are often much more colourful and their star-like shape are a great way to show how much you love someone or to thank them. These warm colours are sure to stir the heart to express love or gratitude and the colourful choices will brighten any room.
Lilies can be given for any occasion because there are so many different kinds to select from. Regardless of what your message, it will be well-received because of the unique qualities that only a lily can give. When you’re not sure which one to choose but know that you want to send lilies, the staff at Serenata can help put together a bouquet that will speak louder than words so that your message is heard loud and clear.
Whatever the occasion, our florists in slough can help you with your flower needs.

Q: Are lilies poisonous?
A: If you’re a cat, yes – so do be wary of choosing these blooms for any feline-friendly households. Although all lilies are considered dangerous for cats, it’s the Tiger Lily (Lilium Tigrinum), Day Lily (Hemerocalis), Stargazer Lily (Lilium Orientalis), Easter Lily (Lilium Longiflorum), Rubrum Lily (Lilium Speciosum), Japanese Show Lily (Lilium Lancifolium), and Asiatic lilies that are most toxic. Symptoms of lily poisoning in cats include lethargy, loss of appetite and vomiting. If you suspect a cat has nibbled on any part of a lily, please call your vet immediately.
Q: How do I stop lilies from spilling everywhere?
A: Lilies are beautiful – but they can be messy. A good tip is to nip this bad behaviour in the bud, quite literally. As soon as the flowers open, gently reach inside and give the stamens and pistils a firm tug to detach them. This avoids the gloopy drops and dark pollen stains that tend to blacken the name of these sumptuous lovelies.
For dinner parties, low bowls of flowers make most sense - if you're planning on conversing with your guests! If you use a clear vase, you can hide the stems (and dirty water) by wrapping the inside of the glass with a leaf.
When simplicity is the keynote, lilies are the solution. Cultivated for over 3,000 years, these graceful flowers are imbued with symbolic significance and spiritual associations.
